At BAS Museum, Bagnato presents Polvo de estrellas (Stardust), a series of paintings connected to memory, childhood, imagination, and human connections.
Bagnatoโs artistic universe brings together characters, animals, natural elements, and references to childhood, memories, dreams, and the fantastical. She creates scenes that appear playful, yet are far from innocent, concealing a more introspective dimension. A striking feature of her work is the ambivalence between tenderness and strangeness. The cats and characters possess qualities that may evoke tenderness, childhood, or familiarity. However, their scale, expressions, and the overlapping and coexistence of different elements create an ambiguous atmosphere.
The altered proportions, organic shapes, and exaggerated features do not seem to stem from an interest in anatomical or naturalistic representation, but rather serve as a means of giving the characters identity, expressiveness, and presence.
Formally, her work is characterized by a naรฏve aesthetic, with elements of illustration and drawing that emerge through her expressive use of line, brushwork, formal simplification, and the expressive nature of her paintings.
Stylistically, she incorporates elements of trash pop and kitsch. The dreamlike dimension mentioned above also brings her work close to Surrealism, although not in a strict sense.
Zach Oreo is a French-American artist born in Paris in 1983. Linked to graffiti since childhood, he was self-taught, developing his skills in graphic design, screen printing and airbrushing. In 2006, he turned this passion into a profession, in 2009 he founded his brand Endzlab and, in 2013, he settled in Barcelona.
His work is notable for โThe Badass Bearโ, an iconic character with an aesthetic akin to comic books, which he uses to create compositions on walls, canvases and textiles. His visual universe combines graffiti, urban culture, illustration and pop surrealism, with vivid colours, defined lines and a direct, ironic and satirical language. Through humour and references to popular culture, he questions consumerism, fame and the behaviours of contemporary society.
With the exhibition Zach Oreo presents: Welcome to Bearcelona, the artist pays tribute to Barcelona, the city that has been his home since 2013. From his perspective as a foreigner settled in Catalonia, he interprets daily life, customs and local culture with humour and irony. The exhibition becomes a celebration of the personal and creative bond he has built with the city, a source of inspiration, opportunities and artistic growth.
